On my dad’s side I’m second generation Korean. His father came over from Korea very early. He was escaping a bad home environment. I think he arrived in Hawaii in 1912. He ended up in Chicago and worked as a cook in a Chinese restaurant. My grandmother is from Michigan. She was in Chicago with her mom and they met up with my grandfather at a parade and my grandfather asked my grandmother’s mom if he could go on a date with her.
On my mom’s side I go back to the Mayflower. I have two ancestors from the Mayflower. We have ancestors who fought in the American Revolution. My grandmother was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. – Carma
