My mom’s family is the product of 2 German families immigrating around the same time. They came over to be farmers. I’m not sure why; I think it was just a good opportunity. There was cheap, fertile land. I’m the descendant of working Germans. Both sides ended up in the same part of Michigan as farmers. My grandad’s grandad was the one who moved over. My grandad and grandmother grew up farming with these super German families. The lineage is pretty straight forward. They came over; they farmed for a while. Then my grandad got a job doing electrical engineering back when analogue TV first started happening. He helped to make that a thing. – Alex
